I want my friends here to know that Dixie is at the Bridge. The so called liver shunt was non existent. She hadn't been eating for a couple of days, her vet was on vacation and I was trying to hold out until he returned tomorrow. Yesterday I took her to her previous vet, they were covering for her new vet.

Long story short both of her kidneys had shut down. The pain she'd had in late may was not from her back it was the passing of stones. The University of FL mentioned a kidney stone briefly in their long report. Not understanding the language of medicine I didn't notice it and no one ever mentioned it to us. They were so focused on the non existent Liver Shunt they paid no mind to her kidneys.

She had stones in the urethra according to the ex-rays so we scheduled an ultra sound for this morning. They found the kidneys were shut down then. We could have taken her back to the infamous U of FL for dialysis but there was so little hope with both kidneys involved. So we chose to give her peace and send her to the Bridge. I was with her at 9:39AM when she passed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Dixie is precious in your pics. She's recieved her wings far too early, but may she fly high with all our other precious babies.

Oh my, Elaine. I was shocked and saddened when I read this.

My heart goes out to you. It's always heart wrenching to lose one of our fluffs, but when it is from something so unexpected, it must be a nightmare. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Elaine I am still in shock over this devastating news. You and Dixie were one of our very first friends here on SM and although we have never met I have always had much respect and love for you both. Know that I am crying with you praying for you too.
