I am seriously considering it. Sue has been encouraging me to come up to NYC for the show (and to finally get to meet precious Tyler ) . It sounds like a lot of fun. A little concerned about traveling to NYC in Feb with the weather, but I may still do it any way.

Usually a bunch of us girls meet in New York (without our dogs). We shop downstairs - lots of vendors there!! then go watch the Progressive show.

Then we all go out for a great dinner. It's a fun day for sure!!

...cold out...but fun. and New York is beautiful at night!!

Elaine and I take a train. We were scared in the beginning, but we're gettin' pretty good at it now ....don't get me wrong, I'd never attempt it alone!!!

Bridget, if you travel up by Amtrak it is super easy and less worries about the roads.

I can't travel by Amtrak bringing the dogs. So I will have to drive.

I am about an hour (+/-) from NYC by train.
Train station about 20 (+/-) minutes from the house.
Taxi to the piers in NYC where the show is held.
Two extra bedrooms, if anyone would like to stay with me in NJ.

We get out of the train right across the street from the show! No taxi needed.

The actual Westminster show is now split between two locations. There is the Garden where the groups and BIS are done and the Breed classes out at the Piers. Of course, those who have been in the past know there is also a toy specialty show on Friday that many of us also do at the Hotel Penn which is right next to the Garden. The train takes you right to the Hotel Penn and the Garden. You can take a taxi out to the Piers, but honestly, the shuttle does a nice job of getting you there as well and if I am remembering correctly it was free last year.

I'm planning on going this year too - wouldn't miss it! Marina will be showing in Jr showmanship and will be showing her Toy Fox Terrier, Hef. Possibly a maltese also in the breed.

For about 4 years, I have gone to both the Progressive toy show (held at the Hotel Pennsylvania across the street from Penn Station) which always seems to take place the Friday before Westminster (which would be Feb 7th this year )and Westminster on Monday and Tuesday, Feb 10-11. It's always so much fun and I missed it last year because of my knee ACL injury and surgery. Can't wait to go this year. Many of us make a big day of Friday, where you can see the Progressive Toy Show very up close and personal and yes, as Pat said, shop. So much fun and love seeing Stacey, Marina, Carina, Mary H, etc there. We have also held a dinner at a restaurant on that Friday night (Alice and I have organized this for several years) for those who came to the show or live in NY or NJ and work in the city. It's so much fun! Would love to do that again and would gladly take on arranging it again this year now that I'm well again.
For Westminster, in the past (correct me if I'm wrong Stacey) the toy breeds and Juniors have been the first day of Westminster, so I don't go on Tuesday. Not sure when they announce the schedule.
