Default My Lily's Vaccine Reaction

B.D. 8/01/2009 adult weight 4.0 pounds

My Lily was a happy, healthy 6 month old when I got her from a great breeder..

On 2/22/2011 Lily received the 3yr. Merial rabies vaccine..I did not notice any effects. I took Lily back for her distemper on 3/10/2011 and I gave her Benadryl before bringing her in. She received the Vanguard 5 DA2P-CPV..on the way home, she got restless and agitated...as I brought her into the house, her face was getting red and swelling quickly, she was very hot, and her heart started racing...I immediately took her back to the vet...on the way, her eyes swelled shut, she was having difficulty breathing, and became lethargic...I thought she would die before I could get there..they took her to the back and administered dexamethasone...they had to keep her for awhile to make sure she would be okay..I was relieved when she got better...a few weeks later she was having loose stools and started losing weight because she was not absorbing any nutrients from her food..she went from 4 pounds to 3.8...numerous tests were run, and nothing abnormal turned up...vet suspected IBD..she also developed allergies and food intolerances....she has had 3 other episodes of this, the last one was 4/2013...this time she lost down to 3 pounds..literally a skeleton..was scratching a lot, and had a poor coat..she has to be given digestive enzymes with every meal, takes antihistamines, and additional supplements to support her immune system..there are few foods she can tolerate now...I believe her immune system was compromised and sent into "overdrive" from the vaccine(s) she received...she has not been the same since the vaccine reaction...I will not have her vaccinated again..(Lily is the one on the right in the pic below)
