Default Serious issue 4th of July

According to the pet amber alert site, more dogs go missing on July 4th than any other day, July 5th is the busiest day for shelters: (did not know that)

Keeping Your Pets Safe On The 4th of July | Pet Amber Alert

Fireworks are to blame. I am fortunate in that Luck could case less about fireworks. All my other dogs went crazy.

Have a safe 4th of July. Thedodo offers some advice:

I agree, Walter. Just last week a dog on the Upper West Side of Manhattan where I live bolted when there were park fireworks. He took off in Riverside Park (and really the fireworks were in Central Park) and ended up running on the highway and was killed. Very sad. Don't know if he was off leash or he just pulled so hard he got away.

I know this is why we are glad to have a fenced in area..As a kid,one year our Boston Terrier got scared and took off due to 4th fireworks..My brother and I rode our bikes all over the neighbourhood the night and next day even as far as into town.. we lived 5 miles outside city limits.. We looked all day put up signs.. later that evening,as I sat on the back steps,I heard something under ,it was Tipsy.. how she got under there we'll never know.. She couldn't get back out.. All day we'd been up and down those steps and she never made a sound.. We had to tear the boards off to get her out..

So far my four don't seem to be bothered by thunder or fireworks. We'll see how they do this week end. I see our local animal shelter has posted an article about it's their busiest time of the year. They rescue a lot of strays that have been frightened by fireworks and have run off.
Deborah and my Fluffs, Laurel, Violet , Hardy and Dewey!
