Default Collapsed Trachea

Hello All!

Can you please educate me on collapsed tracheas? Have you experienced it first hand? Are they having trouble breathing? My baby is 11.5 years old, 4.5 pounds, and she is a loud breather. Sometimes she makes the goose-honking sound. Our vet mentioned surgery....has anyone had that for their little ones? Are there medications that help it? Different natural, holistic remedies we can do? And lastly, has anyone heard of dogs dying from it?

Worried mum,
Briana

I lost one of my Malts to a collapsed Trachea. She was 8 years old. The emergency vet said surgery most likely could be done. I did a bunch of research on the surgery and it was saying as long as the dog is under 6 years old there's a chance for a successful outcome. Less positive outcome older than 6. It didn't matter in my case as my girl barely made it through the night. It was terrible.
