Has anyone's malt gone through this before? Please give me some tips and medicines that you have tried. How long did your malt live after the diagnoses? Still waiting on the results of the ultrasound but the x rays showed that her heart was enlarged. She's only 11.5 years old.

Our Angle was diagnosed with kidney and heart failure in October of 2007 at the age of 14 1/2 years of age. She passed away on December which was only a few months later. I do not remember what medication she was on but she did not suffer long. Not sure whether or not you were given any medication/s or not but I am sure that there are others who might be able to help you with your questions. Off course, all Dogs are different and as well as their life spans and I have heard that some do live longer with the proper care and medications. Please keep us posted and hope that your little Malt will be ok.

A lot depends on the specifics of the diagnosis. I know of some like Snuggle's Mom who've had a few months and some with early diagnosis who've had several more good years. If you have access to one, a veterinary cardiologist will give you the best alternatives. Saying prayers!

I am sorry to hear this news, but as Maggie said "it is best to consult a vet cardiologist for something like this. You will get lots of advice here, but I would definitely go w/a good specialist hospital & doctor! It is like w/a human, in that it depends on what part of the heart is affected as to how it is treated.
I pray that you have access nearby or can find help for your baby. They deserve our love & care. Let us know how it goes! We are here for emotional support as needed.
