Thank you, everyone! It is so different with him gone. Like I told Delilah, it's just back to me and you kiddo. She is doing very well and is loving being the only one to get all the attention. She literally is like a puppy again, which is strange. She had a dental and full check-up and she is very healthy for 10 yrs old. So I am happy there. I am going to miss my little SamSam. The hardest part is seeing his food bowl and knowing he isn't there beside his sister eating. He was Delilah's little shadow! Thank you again. <3

Susan, he had never been ill until this year (2019 has been a ROUGH, ROUGH year for our family) I lost both my Mom, very unexpectedly in Feb, 30 days later my Dad in March. My Mom's Pit Bull we had to put down because he had his spleen rupture, he was 12 yrs old. And it's just been a very stressful year.

In Feb Samson started having a couple of seizures and a bad cough ( I suspected kennel cough from groomers), so when we took him to the Dr an x-ray showed his heart and liver were slightly enlarged. So we had him on medication for about a month and he recovered fine. He no other problems until early November when the weather changed. He started having these seizures again, but worse. Xray ruled out his heart and liver, which were actually normal, blood work was normal. He just slowly went downhill, wouldn't eat.

Then right before Thanksgiving, I noticed his belly was distended, my daughter who is a vet tech happened to be here visiting from Texas and she said that wasn't a good sign and so we made a trip to the Dr and she insisted they do an ultrasound and more blood work, which showed high WBC and low RBC, the ultrasound showed significant fluid build-up. Dr said he had a splenic mass- and my daughter said it was more less cancer and he was slowly bleeding out. That she sees it a lot in male dogs. Dr said there was nothing else we could do, just take him home and enjoy him as much as possible. He just kept on declining, but he tried so hard to get up and walk around, it just broke my heart to watch him. And Delilah didn't want to be with him, which was worse. I think she knew he was dying. Definitely an adjustment now, but we are doing ok. I am just ready for 2019 to be over with.
